When the Veil is Thin

Here we are, at the Celtic New Year, and I don’t know about you, but I love to start things out fresh. Get rid of the old and ring in the new. This is also a weekend to honor the dead, in the tradition of Samhain (though I believe the astrological date of Samhain this year is November 8 th ), and Dio de los Muertos (today)

Paris updated…

So we found an internet cafe that is way out (three different Metro train rides later), but at least they have reasonable rates, and most importantly QWERTY keyboards. So we’ve walked and walked and our backs are sore, feet blistered, and legs seizing, yet we still continue to explore the side streets seeing the sites.  The short of it, we love this city…  People are pretty friendly, and the area we are staying is very safe.  We have stumbled with the language barriers but we have made due so far without tossing the hands in the air and requesting the opposing party to  parlez anglais…  Tres Cool

Flowers

Earlier this year I went on a bus trip to see the Frank Lloyd Wright house near Springfield, OH.  We visited the house , gardens and gift shop, then spent a few hours lunching and shopping.  Still challenged by my not-so-new digital camera, I took this picture and find that it’s one of my more successful photos.

Outta town…to Kansai

Kansai?  Some of you might be asking where is that.  It’s in Japan.  The region around Tokyo is sometimes called the Kanto region; whereas, the region consisting of Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe are often referred to as Kansai.  Some of you may know of the Kansai International Airport (KIX), an airport which is sinking under it’s own weight partially because it is built atop a man-made island. So October was a pretty big write-off in terms of blogging.  Work was very busy with a lot of out-of-office stuff to attend to.  There was Thanksgiving.  Then I was also sick for quite a few days

Hearty Arts, Tangy Food & Red River Revel In Shreveport, Louisiana – Feature

The ease of Shreveport in Louisiana translates from its laid back intentions. Existing right across railroad tracks, the central perception of the town leads directly into a festival plaza created with planning worthy of a large city. Anchoring the conception of a weekend getaway, the Red River Revel Festival , opening its new season, offered a diversity of music while highlighting local performers and food optimizing a city considered one of the faster growing tourism spots in the Southern US boosted, in no small way, by its thriving film industry where not one but two major films were shooting in the week visited

The pumpkin blog (spooo-ooky)!

Halloween pumpkins can be bought at supermarkets, but sometimes it's fun to pick your own, like here at Anderson Farms, just north of Denver, where there are acres and acres to choose from. We walked out as far as we could into the field, using my 11-year-old's logic that the best ones are probably farthest from the road. Sure enough, our corner of the patch was full of beauties — and BIG, too! Then we zeroed in on "the perfect pumpkin." Since Leigh had to work, Dylan picked out her prize and carried it back to the tractor-drawn wagon.
